Children's Ministry 1/29/12
Here's what the kids learned in Kid Zone / Beach Monkeys and Jesus Freaks this week.
Memory Verse:
“And He is the head of the body, the church, Who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:18).
Teaching:
What we learn about Jesus:
He is the image of the invisible God (God in the flesh).
He is the firstborn over all creation (He has the authority of the Father).
All things were created BY Him.
All things were created FOR Him.
He is the head of the church.
He is the firstborn from the dead (the One Who demonstrates the new creation He makes us).
Looking back at the creation of everything in Genesis 1:1-22, we see that God created the following:
Day 1: light, separated from darkness (1:1-5)
Day 2: sky/heavens, separated from waters on earth (1:6-8)
Day 3: dry land, separated from earth; plants (1:9-13)
Day 4: sun, moon, stars (1:14-19)
Day 5: sea creatures and birds (1:20-23)
Day 6: animals and man (1:24-31)
Day 7: rest (2:1-2)
All of these things were created by Jesus and For Jesus.
When our sin separated us from God, Jesus, having the authority of the Father, came as God in the flesh to recreate us after we sinned against Him (John 3:16).
God bless you!

Missionary Prayer Requests 1/25/12
LONDON TEAM- New place to meet for their Wed and Sunday meetings.
Holydes-Wanted to let you all know that we have a meeting with Rev. Paul. He wanted to have a meeting with us to talk about our facility usage. He said that he knows that we have been growing and that he wants to talk about any concerns that we might have about using St. S's in the future. While talking to him on the phone, it definitely seemed like it was a meeting that would lead to a positive outcome.
Please be in prayer tomorrow, that the Lord would show Himself strong! (I'm praying that He would allow us access to the whole church, sanctuary and all!)
Meeting is at noon.
Lauren-
-Please pray that the Lord continues to guide me here. He has been opening up more discipleship opportunities that I am excited about as well as more times to meet with people in the Camden Markets to specifically read through the word with them! It's been a blessing!
Parks- please pray for our growing children's ministry, first for the children that are coming, also for David as he prepares the curriculum and all things involved with that, and for helpers :) And of course, please pray that each one of these kids that walks through the doors will come to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord!
• please pray that we will find a church building that is big enough to hold our growing church as well as growing children's ministry.
Merrills-
- Praise: My parents will be visiting us this weekend! We are very excited about that!
- Yesterday Luke's mom had a biopsy on a growth that will be tested for breast cancer. I know that for her this is very scary, and just a little unnerving as his dad is also living with slow growing prostate cancer, which was discovered this time last year. Please pray they will experience the peace of God as they are waiting for the results to come back Thursday or Friday this week.
- Luke is spending more time working on the website, trying to learn how to make a data base so we can put all PT's old sermons up and make them available for people to listen to. Please pray that Luke can find a good resource as this is quite complicated and new to him. Or pray someone with the skills could come alongside him :)
- Today at lunch time PT is having a meeting with St Saviours where we meet on Sundays to talk about possibly getting to use the big church! That would be so good, as we're growing out of space.
- Please also pray that we would find ways reach people as a family. We are looking for something like a play group in the area where we can meet new local people. We are thankful to have gotten to see the neighbors more and getting to know them.
Mark Piester- Far Reaching Ministries

Solomon & Collett- Uganda
• For protection from the various health issues that could attack them at the different villages they travel to.
Pottengers-Kenya-
• We are rejoicing that as we write all seems to be well in Kisumu and as we know Kenya! Of course this could change over night but the important announcement today revealed that there are true consequences to sin, regardless of stature, money, esteem etc. As many may know 4 of the 6 men were confirmed that they will indeed go to trial and are accused of some pretty horrible things that happened in the post election of 2008. There is a bit of shock that two who were to run as presidential candidates (they can no longer run at this point) are accused.
• We also want to praise God that the Women's Leadership Discipleship Class began on Sat. and went very well. The two topics covered were Salvation and Who We Are in Christ. Next Sat. the women will begin a study called Bearing Fruit.
• We also rejoice that Matt had the last minute privilege of teaching on Sunday. He taught on giving and was given great feedback but best of all a young man named Charles gave his life to the Lord. His story is really interesting so check out our blog soon!
• The evangelism class went really too and there were about 16 people there. People seemed very excited about the class.
• It was a very long day for Matt on Sunday and on disturbed sleep as Joellie is struggling with a terrible cold. So we praise God for His strength and grace in bringing us all through the weekend and some wonderful ministry.
• We want to praise God for an awesome meeting with some fellow missionaries doing work with widows and training them how to be effective for Christ in their business. We currently have some Mamas who would like to expand their business and some who would like to start out. In seeking advise a whole new door as to how to encourage the mamas in and for Christ is opening up. We have another meeting this next Wed. with Pastor Stephen attending and we are very excited about it!
Please Continue to Pray for:
• Health - JJ has a terrible chest cold and has been feeling yucky, KG praise God is so much better but fighting the dust and dryness, Matt is getting the cold, and John Mark is having some serious issues with an ear. Please pray for healing and rest for all
• Transition for O4 as they prepare to move in Feb.
• Mama Johnny as she will be attending a fellowship day with pastor wives from the baptist community this Sat. The hope is to get her connected with other Kenyan Pastor Wives
• WLDC (Women's Leadership Discipleship Class) on Sat.
• Evangelism class on Sunday
• More servants in most areas of church (smile!)
• KG on our Thurs. as she has a field trip to a farm with her Int. school. Please pray for protection in the van and safety all around.
• Kenya as results from the ICC set in

1. Ramsey is in South Sudan with the orphanage...he is asking for prayer for the children...they need Jesus! They need to know Him more and that He loves them no matter what they have done in their past. They need to know that love has boundaries and discipline and God disciplines those He loves to help them, not hurt them. These are children who have never had someone tell them "no" for their own good, most grew in the "bush" by themselves with no parental love and guidance. Ramsey is ministering to young hearts that he is seeking the Lord to help him mold them. Thanks for praying with us for these children.
2. Ladies bible study tomorrow morning! Please pray for me (Vicky) as I get to minister to small group of women missionaries from the book of Daniel. What a privilege! We will be looking at Daniel ch. 7 and then an overview of Daniel ch. 8
3. Elhanan has been fighting a cold for a few days, doesn't seem to be affecting him too much. He is happy and strong, just congested. Please pray that the virus would go away soon. Also, he has been suffering from growing pains in his legs....he keeps growing so fast that his legs are aching all the time. I know how he feels, I had the same thing when I was growing up. Please pray that the pain wouldn't be too serious and that he has the grace to be able to handle it.

Pray for the organization that he works for that the LORD would move in the problems that they are having.
The M’s- Israel
Praise:
- Praise the Lord for open hearts! This week JM had two different guys come into the Congregation office looking for prayer. Both were very cold, wet, hungry and discouraged. Mr. "A", who you have all been praying for the past few months, was at a real low point. JM shared with him and he recommitted his life to the Lord. He also agreed to look into a program (run by believers) designed to help guys in substance abuse recovery. Mr"A" then told JM that he had been planning to commit suicide that same day. Please pray that Mr "A" will be able to enter a program that will help him get victory over his drinking problem and grow spiritually.
The second seeker who John Michael shared with, Mr."A-k", was also very open, but not quite ready for a decision. Please pray for his salvation, and that he will realize the job provided for him was an answer to prayer.
-Praise the Lord for friends and spiritual family. This week we had a visit from Jen and her daughter Katie. We had a great time chasing this adorable toddler around the house and sharing what the Lord has been doing in our lives recently. We've also had guests here every night this week, for Bible study, movie and game nights and just "hanging out" and talking - so much fun!
Please pray:
- Please continue to pray for Miss "S" who's looking to the Lord for specific guidance in her studies. She has to make some serious decisions about when and where to apply for pre-med studies, and is now considering an option in Italy (an English language program).
- Please continue to pray for new believer Mr. "A", and seeker Mr. "A-k"
- For follow up with the contacts we made recently, for the Lord to continue working in the hearts of people we have been ministering to, and for direction and growth of our Congregation, Shemen Sasson.
-For spiritual growth of those we are discipling and teaching: Mr. F and his two sons, Mr. A, Miss T. Miss F, Gal, Jen and baby Katie.
-For the reconciliation ministries we are involved with:
* that the house church in Bethlehem and the Aqleh family will transition to a more independently managed ministry
* that we will be able to develop further ministry partnerships in the Arab believing community
-For Gal in her deployment in the Army- Please pray that the Lord will continue to give her and the other soldiers in her unit, supernatural protection and peace, wisdom, skill and courage to handle every situation.
- Please continue to pray for Aminidav and his family: He's doing well, and continuing with his schedule of chemo therapy and radiation - he's almost halfway done.
- For the Lord to smooth the way for me as I seek permanent residence (and national health insurance) in Israel. Please pray that the Lord will help me to move forward with this process.

The Ramirezes
-We want to first say thank you so much for everyone who sent us Christmas gifts through the Christmas in October outreach! It was such and incredible blessing, we can't even begin to tell you!
-Last Christmas, we had just found out that Eleazar was sick the day before, and our gifts were few. This year our tree was full of gifts from those we love, and our hearts on the road to being restored.
-Meagan:
Praise the Lord I got my first job in the teaching industry!!! It is a part time job, which will be great because I can continue to have more then enough time for the photography.
-George is doing well in his job still! Getting more and more comfortable as time goes on. He starts school next week so that will be a fun addition to our crazy lives!
-As we have praying over the last few months we have decided that we are going to take a year off of ministry, in accordance with the example that the Old Testament lays out for men taking a year out of the army after being married to invest in their marriage. We feel that God was leading us to do this when we first got married and we really didn't. After losing Eleazar we took about two days off together before going back into ministry full time. It is so natural for us to be in ministry that it was hard to not be. But we have decided that it is time to really take that time off. So for sure we won't be involved in any ministry, either full time or less, until July of this year. Once July comes we will prayerfully see if the Lord has us in ministry in some way.
Don & Marta- Israel

- Praise the Lord for His protection! This week we met up with some acquaintances of ours (Mrs.G. and Mr Y) who's daughter ("B") was hit on the head by a falling concrete block. Their little girl miraculously survived, and received only a relatively minor concussion. She does have a small depression fracture in her skull, which will have to be corrected with surgery. They asked for prayer for the upcoming surgery, and continued healing.
-Praise the Lord for grace. Though J M and I have been struggling with our Hebrew studies for a while now, we are managing to make some good progress. I actually feel like I'm able to express myself now, which has been a big hurdle for me. We have a great teacher, who is patient with our different learning styles.
Please pray:
- Please pray for Miss "S" who is looking to the Lord for specific guidance in her studies. Miss"S" is a very bright and talented believer, who is nearing the end of her studies for a bachelors degree in psychology at Hebrew U. However, her heart is really in medical studies, and she has to make some serious decisions about when and where to apply for pre med studies. She has some big exams to take too, in order to qualify for a pre med program.
- Please continue to pray for Jennifer and baby Katie. They are doing well, and will be visiting us this week.
- For follow up with the contacts we made recently (especially Mr. A, who's been out of touch with us the past couple of weeks) for the Lord to continue working in the hearts of people we have been ministering to, and for direction and growth of our Congregation, Shemen Sasson.

Please pray that the Lord will continue to give her and the other soldiers in her unit, supernatural protection and peace, wisdom, skill and courage to handle every situation.

praise:
• Lifewater received more than their target during year-end giving!
• thank you for your prayers for my retreat. while I was concerned about important decisions I need to make and upcoming ministry, as we know about our God, He was more concerned about my heart. So this retreat he did a little heart surgery taking me to that painful but freeing place where He brings conviction of a wrong heart attitude, needed repentance, then his gentle restoration take place. So I wouldn't call it a refreshing time, but definitely a restorative one. and restoration is something to celebrate! I did also receive some confirmations and more clarity about some (but not all) of upcoming projects this year.
prayer:
• Lifewater is having important planning meetings this week. Please pray for the staff to hear God's voice, that they might discern his heart, wisdom, and strategy for the ministry.
• Keep praying for upcoming Lifewater workshops Ethiopia and Ghana, lesson planning for Ethiopia especially as this is a special project that does not have a set curriculum. Pray for the preparation of the hearts of the participants. These will be smaller groups than normal, 12-15 instead of 25, so we anticipate more opportunity to go deeper. Pray for HIS Spirit to prepare the way
• I am behind in my writing project, with deadlines to meet this week & next. Pray for God's inspiration, clarity with editing and for fixing formatting , protection against computer techie issues to run smoothly, and that I would find his peace in it not be distracted by other things.
• Please pray for God to continue to restore my heart where I still fear and lack trust in him, and have trouble receiving his forgiveness for my faults & failures.

LORD grant unto your servant that with all boldness I may speak your word, by stretching forth your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy servant Jesus. Lasting fruit!

Lauren-Praise God I arrived back into London safely! Thank you for all the travel prayers! I really appreciate them!
-Please pray that the Lord continues to guide me here. He has been opening up more discipleship opportunities that I am excited about as well as more times to meet with people in the Camden Markets to specifically read through the word with them! It's been a blessing!
We received our Christmas in October packages! Among the many wonderful gifts included were some English/Chinese bibles that I got to use today! It was awesome! Many great questions came out of the text we read through in John such as, "Why is Jesus called the Lamb of God" Praise God for the great opportunity to share Him!
Landon- Rachel moved back to the US. Pray for Landon’s focus in ministry. and for them as they return to a long distance relationship.

• Pray for Solomon to get over the sickness that he contracted after a visit to a village. the church floors were “a dusty floor like brown flour”.

• God has provided the finances to buy a new car! It's really amazing!!! In less than 4 months He has provided what we believe more than enough to buy a new, used, reliable car!
• A new place for the O4 to live (this has been so needed for many reasons!)
• Tuesday discipleship with Peg and Maureen
• A women's leadership/discipleship class on Sat. before regular ladies Bible study
• A children's ministry training - prayerfully we will find more servants through this
• Maureen will be a guest speaker and teaching on forgiveness at a church in Nairobi (It's a surprise to the fellowship there)
• Some down time for the O4
• An evangelism training at church with plans for more outreach this year
Prayers
• We could really use prayer as we now search for the right car.
• Please keep the fellowship in prayer as we plan for our evangelism training at the end of the month and begin encouraging the saints to reach out to their communities with the gospel. Pray that any fears of witnessing would be dispelled and that God would give us divine boldness. Pray that it would be supernaturally natural to talk to people about our love for Jesus and to present a clear gospel that is easily distinguishable from all the 'false gospels' that this area is known for.
• Pray for more servants to raise up in the fellowship for Ushering, Children's Ministry, and the Worship Team. And Praise the Lord for the faithful servants that we have forming the core of each of these ministries.
• Lastly please keep the people of Kenya in prayer as January is a difficult month (financially) as many families are struggling to get school fees for their children and prices remain high after the Holiday increase for day to day life.
• There's also 2 major announcements that may affect the people here for better or worse... one is the International Criminal Court (ICC) ruling on 6 government leaders who are suspected of crimes against humanity related to the post-election violence in 2008. The second thing is that the gov't is supposed to announce what month the elections will be held this year (Aug or Dec).

• Thank you for praying, we have been praying for our visa to Israel
• On January 5th, we received news from our friends in Jerusalem that the interview to turn in the paperwork for our visas went very well. The person that turned in the documents was told that the visa processing could take up to one month before we receive it in Los Angles. We needed to cancel our return ticket and reschedule it, so we prayed and I spoke with a Delta Airlines supervisor and we are so delighted to say that they waved the fees and we were able to reschedule the departure without paying any fees.
• With the hope that we will have the visas, we now have a new date of Feb. 14th to fly to Israel. Please continue to pray that the visas would be processed and granted, allowing us to serve in Israel for the next year.
• We are praying about ways to serve while we await the visas and our flight to Israel in February.

Pray for the organization that he works for that the LORD would move in the problems that they are having.
The M’s- Israel
• Praise the Lord for His provision: We recently had some difficulties with transferring funds from our account in the States to our Israeli bank. This put us in quite a bind as we were trying to pay rent and other bills. But thanks to the Lord's grace, the help of friends and some good customer service, we got it all straightened out. In the end, we found we were in better shape financially than we had previously thought. This is an answer to prayer, as we have been praying about a possible move, once our current rental lease is up. Moving will require saving up a good sized deposit, but will save us money in the long run. Since our finances are now looking pretty solid,we hope this can happen in the next six months.
• Praise the Lord for His protection and healing: This past week A was struggling with migraine headaches, low energy, and feeling nauseous. On Tuesday, she discovered a bruise on the back of her head, and suddenly remembered that she had bumped it on Friday, but forgotten about it. All her symptoms added up to a mild concussion. A week of extra rest and tylenol alleviated the headaches, and now she's back to feeling herself. God is so good!
Please pray:
• - Please pray for A's Dad Rich, who was in a car accident last week. He's ok, but has some cracked ribs. Please pray for a quick recovery.
• - Please continue to pray for Jennifer and baby Katie. We still haven't had an update - so please pray for grace and protection.
• - For follow up with the contacts we made during our coming Holiday celebrations and during the Arabic/ Hebrew worship night. For the Lord to continue working in the hearts of people we have been ministering to, and for direction and growth of our Congregation
• -For spiritual growth of those we are discipling and teaching: Mr. F and his two sons, Mr. A, Miss T. Miss F, Gal, Jen and baby Katie.
• -For the reconciliation ministries we are involved with:
• * that the house church in Bethlehem and the A family will transition to a more independently managed ministry
• * that we will be able to develop further ministry partnerships in the Arab believing community
• -For Gal in her deployment in the Army- Praise the Lord for favor with her commanders and peers, for bringing other believers and seekers into her sphere of influence, and for giving her an extra day off 3 times a month. Please pray that the Lord will continue to give her and the other soldiers in her unit, supernatural protection and peace, wisdom, skill and courage to handle every situation.
• - Please continue to pray for Aminidav and his family: We heard through a mutual friend that he's doing well, and continuing with his schedule of chemo therapy and radiation - he's almost halfway done.
• - For the Lord to smooth the way for me (A) as I seek permanent residence (and national health insurance) in Israel. I did try to get an appointment at the ministry of interior today, but they were uncooperative. Please pray that the Lord will help me to move forward with this process.

I am fine just getting over a sinus cold. very busy here at Childrens Bible Fellowship of N.Y. a lot of work.
A prayer request would be that God would grant unto me wisdom and His knowledge on how to fix things around here. Also too, that I would learn to do the work for the Lord and not for the camp staff.
Also a prayer request for Paul and Darlene that the Lord would give them much needed rest since they have had to take care of their 3 grandchildren.

• Excitedly, we have just returned from the Calvary Chapel Missions Conference. While soaking in the great teachings and experiencing phenomenal fellowship, the Lord began to stir a new passion in our hearts. The passion then began to transform into prayer. The prayer when uttered, was something like, "Lord, please increase our family inheritance, may our family's inheritance be one of serving God. Lord, may our children serve you, may our children's children serve you."
Steve & Anita Coon- wherever the LORD sends him.

Mark Piester- Far Reaching Ministries (Continuing prayer)
• Greetings from Rybinsk, Russia! I have been here in Russia a little more than 2 weeks now and it has been a blessing to meet friends and ministry partners once again. Christmas was spent in Rybinsk where we had two celebrations, one on the Arefino orphanage about a 45 minute drive outside the city of Rybinsk on December 23th and a second celebration for 100 children for at the local church. Christmas celebrations and gift distributions have also taken place in the cities of Urozhainaya and Orel this past week. We still have some additional celebrations still planned in the coming week. I look forward to share more in my Prayer Update next month.
• The past several days we have been visiting families whose children have attended the summer and winter camps. These visits are always special as we have one-on-one time with the children. It is a blessing to see them grow up in the church and get excited to have us as visitors in their homes. This week the winter Vacation Bible School begins here in Rybinsk and the children are excited about this special time during their school winter break. I would appreciate your prayers for the 30 children who are planning to attend.

Pottengers-Kenya-
• We really want to praise Him for our health especially through an incredibly busy, full month. He truly is our strength and for those continually praying for our health we say thank you!!
• We also praise God that P. Stephen's leg is healing well. He got the needed medicine for the infection and after some good medical advise he is a taking good care of it.
• Also our Christmas sing before Christmas was brilliant. We had about 40 people in our home and praised the Lord through story telling and worship.
• Matt did a great job teaching both on Christmas and New Years and we are so grateful for the Lord's strength and guidance.
• We also were so blessed to visit Pamela's rural home and had a sweet time with she and her family there. Next time we will camp out there! The car as many know broke down on the way but praise God where we stopped there were cars for hire. (To rent). So we negotiated a price and I hopped in with the girls, Baba Jeff and one of the car guys and off we drove. (Only in Kenya!) It was a rather small car and we were all stuffed in tight but it sure had zip and was rather new inside. Matt waited for the mechanics who arrived shortly after our departure and after fixing the car, Matt met us. The car did just fine on the way back!
• On a car note we continue to receive donations which we praise God for! We continue to trust God for His timing with the car.
• We also really enjoyed some sweet family time and LOVED our time with the Compean family when they came to visit for a few days. We were all able to go out and visit P. Stephen's mother's homestead where he and Maureen currently have a home and we learned more about one of the local cults. Not only was it an off-roading adventure where the Lord kept our poor car going but it was so sweet to be doing ministry together with our friends. While they were here Ed, Matt and Stephen were able to hold a board meeting where some really great things were talked about for the New Year!
Please continue to pray for:
• Important meetings with leadership today and tomorrow
• Different changes in the next couple of months for the O4 (Lord willing good changes to help them be more effective in ministry)
• P. Stephen's car to sell soon (It was purchased in hopes of a business that would run independently but it's not a reliable car.)
• Vision and wisdom for each area of ministry this next year
• Focus on the Lord for us all
• Sleep training for Joellie (First night completed.....pretty rough.....hoping that was the worst and that the week holds better nights of sleep)
• Matt's back as it is giving him spasms (sad face)

Praise:
- Praise the Lord for unity in the Body of Messiah! We had a truly special night of Arabic and Hebrew worship music, with a combined worship team with members from both Alliance Church and our own congregation. Many Arab brothers and sisters, from around the country, joined us at Shemen Sasson for this amazing night. There were also several unbelieving Israelis in attendance, who were touched by both the message of the music, and by the demonstration of love among the followers of Yeshua. I couldn't imagine a more blessed ending to the year, as we gathered together as one family, praising our God for His goodness and grace!
- Praise the Lord for a new season of growth. As we start this new year of 2012, we are looking forward to personal spiritual growth, as well as ministry growth. We've pulled out our new calendars, and have already made several changes in our weekly routine. We hope this will facilitate a more efficient work week, conserving time and energy, and allowing us to keep our focus on the priorities of ministry here.
Please pray:
- Please continue to pray for Jennifer and baby Katie. We have tried to call her repeatedly, but have still not heard any news about what happened with her court date and custody status. Please pray for grace and protection.
